These NJ arts venues examine provocative topics from superstorms to war

George Street Playhouse kicks off its season with the world premiere of “The Trial of Donna Caine,” a courtroom drama penned by Walter Anderson, former editor and CEO of Parade magazine. The show is helmed by the New Brunswick theater’s artistic director, David Saint, and is based on the real-life events surrounding a training accident that killed Marine recruits and put a spotlight on the recent move to open military combat positions to women. (Home News Tribune/Gannett NJ) - It'll be a night of stars on the page and off when George Street Playhouse hosts a one-night-only benefit reading of the new comedy "Night With Oscar" on Friday, June 8, at 8 pm. Three-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Rob Morrow ("Northern Exposure," "Numb3rs," "Billions") leads a cast that also includes Tony and Emmy Award winner Debra Monk ("Redwood Curtain," "NYPD Blue"), Talia Balsam ("The Good Wife," The Newsroom") and Emmy Award-winning writer, director and actor Robert Wuhl, among others. George Street Playhouse has announced that three-time Golden Globe nominee and two-time Emmy Award nominee Rob Morrow (TV’s "Northern Exposure", "Billions"), two-time Emmy winner Robert Wuhl ("Bull Durham", TV’s "Arli$$"), Tony Award and Emmy Award winner Debra Monk (TV's "NYPD Blue") and Talia Balsam (TV’s "Mad Men", "Homeland") will star in a special benefit play reading of Eugene Pack’s hysterical new comedy "Night with Oscar" on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and start at $58,  A limited number of seats are available starting at $99 that include a post-play reception and meet-and-greet with the celebrity cast.
