George Street Playhouse’s Theatre Academy celebrates each student’s creative expression; providing a fun, engaging environment to explore theatre, develop self-confidence, and collaborate with others. Our classes are ideal for students with or without theatre experience.  Family and friends are invited to the final session for a Class Sharing to celebrate the students’ artistry.

Junior Company (ages 5-8)

Winter Session - Snow Songs

Students will think on their feet when they enter the exciting world of improvisation.  Comedy?  Tragedy?  Both?  It’s all about making choices when you’re inventing it in the moment. The only rule is to say, “Yes!”

Spring Session - Mainstage Scene Study
Mondays, March 12 - May 7, 2018 (No class April 2, 2018)

This course will explore the foundations of script analysis, characterization, and relationship through an in-depth investigation of a play from George Street Playhouse’s mainstage.  Students will read and explore scenes from Larry Shue’s rollicking comic farce, The Nerd.  The cost of class includes the script of The Nerd and one ticket to a performance of the production.

This course will explore the foundations of musical theatre.   Students will develop a wide range of musical theatre techniques and performance skills, as they explore songs, scenes, and dance routines from classic American musicals.   Class fee includes sheet music and an accompanist. Appropriate for students with or without prior experience.
