Arrival Instructions

We are so pleased to welcome you and your students to the theatre! A trip to a George Street Playhouse performance offers you and your students the opportunity to experience some of the finest regional theater in the nation. George Street Playhouse strives to offer culturally immersive learning experiences at the intersection of arts and academic standards through its student matinee performances.

We hope you’ve had the opportunity to review and enjoy the lesson plans accompanying the show in preparation for your visit. The lesson plans allow students a richer, more meaningful experience that creates enduring understanding long after the curtain comes down.

Itinerary

10:15 -10:30 AM: Buses Arrive at 11 Livingston Avenue between

Buses are greeted by a George Street Playhouse Representative upon Arrival

Buses, please pull into the covered meters parallel parking spot opposite the State Theatre.

  • Please do not disembark the bus. A GSP representative will meet you on your bus to get a final headcount and distribute programs. Your GSP representative will escort you and your students into the theatre and your assigned seating section. Seats are assigned by school. Individual paper tickets will not be required. However, students and staff must stay in their assigned seating section.

10:30 AM: The House Opens

11:00 AM:   Show Starts

Show run time is 1 hour 45 minutes (no intermission)

20 minutes: Post Show Q & A

A George Street Representative will dismiss your students by section

Student Ambassador Interviews: 10 minutes

Things to Remember

  1. We do not allow outside food or drinks.
  2. Guests are prohibited from bringing cameras and recording devices (other than phones) to the performance. All audio/visual devices and photography, filming, recording, and taping is strictly prohibited.
  3. Guests will refrain from using cellular phones during the performance. The sound and/or light from the displays are a distraction for the performers and other guests—as is text messaging during the performance.
  4. Guests will keep aisles clear at all times. Dancing (when a show allows) must be done only at their assigned seats.
  5. George Street Playhouse has a zero-tolerance policy regarding aggressive or abusive behavior in the venue at any time. Guests who engage in fighting, throwing objects, using foul/abusive language or gestures, attempting to enter restricted areas, or engaging in other behavior detrimental to the health, safety, and experience of other guests will be immediately ejected from the venue.

COVID Policy

Face masks will be welcomed, but are no longer required. If you are feeling ill the day of an event or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, we kindly ask that you do not attend the performance.

TalkBack

For in-person student matinees that take place in the morning, immediately following the performance, a small group of the production's creative team convenes on the stage to answer your students’ questions. This engaging opportunity lasts for 20 minutes after the conclusion of the performance.

Arrival

FROM NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE (HEADING NORTH or SOUTH):

Take Exit 9 – New Brunswick. Bear right out of the toll plaza, following signs for Route 18 North – New Brunswick. Stay on Route 18 North for 1.5 miles and get into the right-hand lane. Go through 3 traffic lights. Take the right-hand exit for New Street. At the third traffic light on New Street, take right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your left, The Heldrich Hotel will be on your right.

FROM GARDEN STATE PARKWAY (HEADING SOUTH):

Take exit for New Jersey Turnpike (directly after Exit 130 if traveling Southbound). You will enter the Turnpike at Exit 11. Take Exit 9 – New Brunswick. Bear right out of the toll plaza, following signs for Route 18 North – New Brunswick. Stay on Route 18 North for 1.5 miles and get into the right-hand lane. Go through 3 traffic lights. Take the right-hand exit for New Street. At the third traffic light on New Street, take right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your left, The Heldrich Hotel will be on your right.

FROM ROUTE 287 (HEADING NORTH OR SOUTH):

Take Route 287 to Exit 10 - Easton Avenue to New Brunswick. Follow Easton Avenue for approximately 4.7 miles. Make a left onto Somerset Street and then a right on George Street. Go down George Street for one-quarter of a mile and then take a right on Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your right-hand side.

FROM ROUTE 18 NORTH:

 ** On Route 18 North, stay in the right-hand lane. Take the right-hand exit for New Street. At the third traffic light on New Street, take right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your left, The Heldrich Hotel will be on your right.

FROM ROUTE 18 SOUTH:

From Route 18 South, take the George Street exit toward Route 27 South Princeton/New Brunswick. Follow George Street for 1 mile. Turn right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your right-hand side.

FROM ROUTE 1 (HEADING NORTH or SOUTH):

Take Exit for Route 18 North. Stay on Route 18 North for a few miles. Follow directions ** from above.

FROM ROUTE 27 (HEADING NORTH):

Follow Route 27 into New Brunswick past the train station on your left. At the first light after the train station, make a right onto George Street. Continue down George Street for almost a quarter mile and take a right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your right-hand side.

FROM ROUTE 27 (HEADING SOUTH):

Follow Route 27 South into New Brunswick over the Albany Street Bridge. At the second light after the underpass, make a left onto Neilson Street. (Hyatt Hotel will be on your left.) Take first right onto Church Street. Take a left at the light onto George Street. Continue down George Street for almost a quarter mile and take a right onto Livingston Avenue. NBPAC will be on your right-hand side.

Parking:

George Street Playhouse (GSP) does not have its own parking area. GSP will provide closed meters opposite STATE Theatre and Rutgers Mason Gross where Buses can park during the show.

TalkBack

Immediately following the performance, the house lights will come up, and members of the show's creative team will join the stage for a 20-minute Q&A or "talkback" with the creative team.

Dismissal

After the talkback, your GSP representative will rejoin your group and escort your group out of the building and back onto your bus(es). Schools will be dismissed one at a time so please wait for direction from your GSP representative before exiting the theatre.
